A 49-year-old Ontario man ordered to be re-tried on first-degree murder in the death of Cindy Gladue, turned himself into Edmonton authorities and was released on $5,000- bail.
Conditions of his release were originally sealed by a Court of Queen’s Bench judge but have now been made public.
Bradley Barton is to remain at a home in Mississauga on weekends and at his mother’s in Aurora during the week. He’s bound by an 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew seven days a week. He is free to go to work.
Barton is to have no contact with sex workers as well as a list of people who may be witnesses in the trial. He’s also prohibited from using alcohol or drugs. The matter returns to court in Edmonton Sept 1 to set a date for the new trial.
In June, the Alberta Court of Appeal overturned his March 2015 acquittal on first-degree murder and manslaughter, citing numerous errors during the trial including the judge’s charge to the jury.
Gladue’s body was found in a bathtub in Barton’s Edmonton motel room in June 2011.
She bled to death after a night of what Barton called consensual, rough sex for which he paid Gladue $60. The Crown contended a sharp object caused the 11-centimetre injury. One was never found.
She will be dead forever while he can roam around. If she were a white woman, even a white woman of the night, does anyone see the outcome differently? A dog would have him in jail with no roaming over to his mommys house. He is free to work and can go anywhere until curfew and she is dead….forever..
If he was not lying about her accepting $60 for sex, that still does not give him or anyone the right to kill someone and then live with mommy and have a job.
The judge must be one of the racist judges I read about. They brought her vagina to court. Wow. Even in death…Native women don’t stand a chance with the chronic racism happening in the Canadian govt. FACT:1,017 aboriginal women and girls were killed between 1980 and 2012, a homicide rate about 4.5 times higher than that of all other women in Canada.

5K??? I suspect if he had done the same to a dog he would have been more severly punished and his bail would be hire. Canada is an EXTREMELY RACIST country and it makes me sick.
So sad when one resorts to that lifestyle and are fully aware of the consequences by unscrupulous “clients’!!! So sad she made the lifestyle choice, working at McDonald’s would have been a better and safer one!! So sad for the ones she left behind!!
This is f’in outrageous that a potentially dangerous offender is ALLOWED TO LIVE HIS LIFE after turning himself in. No matter how long he stays out on bail he shouldnt be allowed out of jail while waiting for trial. Unf’ingreal
