The government of Nunavut has received a report about the October 2011 fuel spill in the high Arctic community of Resolute.

The only thing that is for certain is that it is hard to figure out how much oil is spilled when high Arctic conditions come into the equation.

Originally, the government thought over 80,000 litres of oil spilled at this tank farm in Resolute.

The investigators say that it was more likely between 19,000 and 67,000 l.

The wide range in the estimate comes as a result of snow hindering the investigation. The government couldn’t locate accurate diagrams of the site, so investigators were essentially working blind.
