The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs is criticizing plans by the province to dig a drainage channel at the end of Lake Winnipeg.

The idea is to help reduce serious flooding along the lake shore.

Floodwaters devastated several First Nations communities this spring.

Now the AMC says communities have not been consulted and First Nations stand to suffer serious impacts from the project.
