Alberta tar sands panel faces first defection

The Alberta government’s newly appointed tar sands panel is only a few days old, but one of its members has already quit.

Professor Helen Ingram from the University of California was supposed to help the province design a credible way to monitor the effects of the tar sands industry on the environment.

Instead, the Alberta government’s efforts to repair the tar sand’s image are in tatters.
