Abuse, racism, loss of land: The shocking allegations of sexual abuse of Indigenous women in Manitoba

 

The Manitoba government is calling on RCMP to investigate shocking allegations made against hydro workers.

This comes after Manitoba’s Clean Environment Commission held hearings into development projects in the north.

In the report, members of Fox Lake Cree Nation spoke of the sexual abuse of Indigenous women – in connection to hydro development projects – and the thousands of workers brought in to remote northern areas.
