The nine-day Drum is Calling festival in Vancouver has kicked off.

The festival features some of Canada’s top Aboriginal talent.

“When I stand on that stage we are still here and our culture is still strong and our language is still there our traditions are still there and for our youth it shows them that when I stand up on that stage they have the right to be there too they have the right to dream as big as they wanna dream take it as far as they wanna take it and they are a part of why Canada is Canada,” said Crystal Shawanda.
