2nd eviction deadline looms for camps at Manitoba legislature

Two separate encampments on the grounds of the Manitoba legislature have until Aug. 26 to disband and disperse.

That’s when police and conservation officers say they will enforce an eviction order delivered last week.

The order was extended for a few days after the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs intervened.

Still, several people at the camp are refusing to leave.

MLAs have voted to declare such camps illegal due to the risk of fire and other safety issues.
