$25M announced in Ontario’s budget for Indigenous businesses, entrepreneurs


Of the 268 pages in Ontario’s budget, Indigenous issues took up two paragraphs of the financial document that will guide the province over the next year.

The money announced will go to Indigenous-owned businesses and entrepreneurs.

But it’s not the kind of money First Nations leaders were asking for – mainly to help with affordable housing.

The budget also includes money for highways and infrastructure, hospitals and health infrastructure.

Fraser spent the last 20 years working in both print and radio in Saskatchewan – mostly in the northern part of the province. Before joining APTN’s Ottawa bureau, he was news director for the Missinipi Broadcasting Corporation working out of their Prince Albert office.
