Manitoba cuts midwife training program despite need for birthing option in remote communities

Each year, hundreds of women are flown to Winnipeg from remote and northern communities to give birth

A program cut has come as a shock to a number of would-be midwives attending post-secondary in Manitoba.

With a need for midwifery as a birthing option in northern and remote communities, the students say this is going to affect many.
