An advocate for at-risk youth in the Northwest Territories says the government needs to do more than throw money at the problem of kids aging out of the child welfare system.

An advocate for at-risk youth in the Northwest Territories says the government needs to do more than throw money at the problem of kids aging out of the child welfare system.

In 2016 the territorial government extended support payments for youth were ready to be cut loose.

But Chelsea Thacker says more programs are needed until the young adults are much older.
